Students with district laptops can receive tech support on Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays from 10:30 AM to 12:30 PM on the bus ramp on the middle school side. This coincides with the lunch program at the schools.
This Monday, March 23rd, please be prepared to drop off the device.
Schley County School System:
Beginning Wednesday, March 18, 2020, meals will be prepared for children between the ages of 2 and 18. A lunch and snack will be distributed in a “drive-through format” at the bus unloading awning of the high school. We ask that everyone enter the main drive and continue straight past the elementary school gym entrance and continue around to the left (circling the open teachers’ parking lot). Per USDA, the child must be present in the car to receive a meal. Any child between the age of 2 and 18 may receive a meal.

Superintendent Woods suspends state testing administration, accountability requirements; other COVID-19 updates
March 16, 2020 – As the COVID-19 outbreak continues and many public schools are closed to ensure the safety of students and staff, State School Superintendent Richard Woods is suspending the following until further notice:
State assessment window/administration (including Georgia Milestones EOGs and EOCs, the Georgia Alternate Assessment/GAA 2.0, and all other required testing
Teacher and leader evaluation (TKES/LKES) requirements and reporting
State-level attendance-related consequences (including CCRPI, TKES/LKES, School Climate Star Rating, and make-up day requirements)

Dear Parents and Community Members,
Schley County Schools have been in close contact with our local health department and our local emergency response team members. In addition to CDC guidance, we will continue to take the necessary steps to disinfect our school and transportation areas.
Yesterday, Governor Kemp asked schools to consider closing for 14 calendar days to limit the spread of Covid-19. While there are no confirmed cases in Schley County at this time, there are cases in nearby counties. Out of concern for our students’ well-being and to limit exposure, all schools will be closed from March 16 through March 27.
All buildings and buses will be disinfected using our Ecovasive system. We would ask that all jackets, backpacks, and school items that travel from home to school be cleaned as well. All 1:1 devices were sent home with chargers to facilitate any at-home learning opportunities. All teacher pages will have relevant guidance, as well as a posting from your child’s teacher for accessible hours each day.
This type of event is unchartered territory for our country and our community. I greatly appreciate the support we receive at all times, but I truly am thankful for the resources we have here. Please take the necessary precautions for your children, yourselves, and your community. Avoid large group gatherings at all costs so that this loss of instruction time will not be in vain. MS baseball has been cancelled this afternoon. Varsity is still playing at Brookstone this afternoon at 4:30.
To be cautionary, Prom has been moved to Saturday, April 11, 2020, at Rees Park. If any other circumstances arise, Saturday, April 25, at the high school gym will be the contingency plan.
Students may not purchase name plates for their yearbooks anymore. The last day to guarantee a book is March 16th. After that, any extra books will be purchased as a first-come basis until they are all sold.
Georgia Movie Academy Award Ceremony has been cancelled.
Out of an abundance of caution, the 7th grade Washington DC trip has been cancelled for this year.

At this hour we are still planning to play baseball today. Varsity is at Brookstone at 4:30 and MS hosts Taylor Co. at 4:30. Stay tuned to the webpage and social media for any updates throughout the day.

The Track meet today at Hugh Mills Stadium in Albany will begin at 4:00.
If you are interested in serving as a FFA officer for the upcoming year, please pick up an application on Mr. Sellers door. Applications are due next Wednesday the 18th.
All Drama students planning to attend the GMA awards at GSW next week need to turn in their permission forms by tomorrow. Any student who does not turn in their form will not be allowed to attend.
