The Schley County School system must engage in timely and meaningful consultation with representatives of private schools and with parents about the provision of special education and related services for parentally placed private school children attending private schools within the school system’s jurisdictions. This would include parents of students in a homeschool setting. Schley County Schools will hold a Proportionate Share Consultation meeting to carry out this process on Tuesday, October 29th at 2:00PM. The meeting will be held at the Schley County Board of Education office, located at 161 Perry Drive, Ellaville, GA 31806. If you have any questions, please contact the Schley County Schools Special Education Department at 229-937-2405. Schley County Schools has a duty to locate, evaluate and identify any child residing in the district who are suspected of, or have a disability or developmental delay. Children eligible for special education include those children with disabilities who have autism, deaf-blindness, emotional disturbance, hearing impairment, multiple disabilities, orthopedic impairment, other health impairment, specific learning disability, speech or language impairment, traumatic brain injury, acquired brain injury, visual impairment or developmental delay and who, because of such an impairment, need special education services. If you suspect your child has a disability and may need special education services or if you would like additional information, please contact the District's Special Education Director, Jodie Leeder at 229-937-2405.
